Members of the Bowral Vietnam Memorial Trust Walk will be selling raffle tickets at Woolworths in Mittagong on Saturday to raise funds to repair the damage at the Bowral Vietnam Memorial Walk after it was vandalised in late October.
Chair of the Bowral Vietnam Memorial Walk Trust Effie Kerr said she hoped members of the community would respond generously to the raffle.
"Tickets will be sold from 9pm to 12pm and aim to repair the $4000 worth of damage that was caused to the walk in the latest bout of vandalism," she said.
Two cherry trees were uprooted, a wooden bench thrown into the nearby creek and a concrete bench from the Pavilion of Peace and reflection was torn out of the ground in the attack. Wooden struts on a round-tree bench were also broken.
"The manager of Woolworths at Mittagong, Angus Humphries, has been a long-time supporter of ours and he was keen to help out," Ms Kerr said.
"Because there are only a few of us in the Bowral Vietnam Memorial Walk Trust we will be helped out by members of other groups, such as the National Serviceman's Association and the Mittagong RSL sub-branch. All their members have been very supportive."
