Bowral business owner George Guresse thought he might be able to sleep-in on Sunday morning but the vandalism of his café, Janek’s, in Corbett Plaza, meant Mr Guresse would have to put in another seven-day week.
The front window of Janek’s was deeply cracked by an unknown implement late on Saturday night, and Mr Guresse said replacing the window would cost more than $2000.
It was not the first time his business had been vandalised and he said it would probably not be the last.
While the damage is covered by insurance, Mr Guresse said he would have to pay excess and his premiums would increase.
Mr Guresse said it was a low act.
“They are cowards, it is pretty gutless. I was going to report it but, if nobody saw it, then there is nothing you can do,” he said.
“It is not necessary to report it as it is just a petty crime.”
Acting sergeant Keith Bristow said police were unable to do anything if a crime was not reported to them.
Mr Guresse believed CCTV cameras in the plaza would act as a deterrent to stop drunken vandals, and there have been calls for increased lighting to discourage late night antisocial behaviour.
