Sports clubs will be slugged with fees of up to $500 a year to use local sporting grounds under a proposed review of fees and charges by Wingecarribee Shire Council.
According to Parks and Property manager at Wingecarribee Shire Council Peter Baumer, the new "user pays" system was discussed at a meeting with local sports clubs on Tuesday night.
"We had a meeting on Tuesday night to discuss the implementation of a 'user-pays' system at local sporting fields to take some of the pressure off ratepayers and help pay for the maintenance of local sporting grounds," Mr Baumer said.
"We invited around 50 local sporting groups and Chairman of the Sports and Recreation Committee Nick Campbell-Jones to the meeting.
