Two hurt as truck crashes

28 Jan, 2007 05:31 PM
Two men were injured when a removal truck crashed on the Hume Highway at Berrima, in the second serious truck crash in the same stretch of road in 10 days.

The men were travelling northbound in a tri-axle rigid Pantec truck and trailer on Thursday night, when the truck ran down between the two bridges and crashed into a safety railing about 1km south of Mereworth Avenue, near the Berrima turn-off, about 11.30pm.

The passenger, a 23-year-old Victorian man, was taken to Bowral Hospital suffering chest injuries.

The driver, a 21-year-old Queensland man, was trapped by the legs for two hours before rescue crews could extricate him.
