TOURISM Southern Highlands (TSH) will pit itself against Australia's best Visitor Information Centres next month in the National Tourism Awards.
TSH was selected out of dozens of entrants in the Canberra and capital region vying for the title of best Visitor Information Centre (VIC) in the country.
Tourism manager Steve Rosa said there would be some serious competition at the national awards, though staff were excited to be competing against the best information centres in Australia.
"The submission process is very extensive and covers a whole range of different areas where we will be judged," he said.
These included customer service, helping staff and the local industry develop, and marketing activities.
"Innovation is another big one such as the introduction of the My Southern Highlands Ambassador program or introducing regular Red Carpet Days and VIP days," Mr Rosa said.
"Another big one these days is sustainability - being energy efficient ourselves but also promoting energy efficiency in the local tourism industry."
The Southern Highlands will be competing with visitor centres in Bendigo, Yorke Peninsula, Ipswich, Swan Valley, Launceston, Greater Port Macquarie as well as Tourism Top End to become the best in the land.
