YOUTH Off The Streets (YOTS) founder and CEO Father Chris Riley thanked the people of the Southern Highlands for supporting young people in need by giving to Saturday’s doorknock appeal.
The Southern Highlands community donated over $5500 to help YOTS cover the costs of running Matthew Hogan School, an education facility for young people who cannot access mainstream education, and eight long-term residences and rehabilitation programs for young people in need.
Father Riley said YOTS staff were grateful for the support shown for the programs running in the local area.
“I believe that is takes a whole village to raise a child,” Fr Riley said.
“On Saturday, the community of the Southern Highlands recognised this responsibility and demonstrated their support for the young people we help.
“It was a great experience seeing so many people show their support for our young people who are working very hard to overcome the psychological effects of abuse and neglect,” Fr Riley said.
