COUNCIL has received more than
150 submissions on its draft LEP.
The deadline for submissions
closed on April 9 but manager of
strategic planning Mark Pepping said
there had been a flood of submissions
in the last few days before and after
the deadline.
Mr Pepping said he had originally
hoped to have a report ready for a
council meeting by late May,
highlighting the key issues raised by
the submissions, but conceded with
so many submissions entered the
department would not have a report
ready until June.
Issues in the submissions ranged
from lot sizes in Robertson to
concerns over hedge heights. Mr
Pepping said not everyone would be
pleased with the draft LEP at the end
of the day, but that was to be expected
with such a complex document.
A lot of the draft LEP was based on
a State Government template and
some of it was non-negotiable, but
Council could re-word some of the
technical jargon of the Development
Control Plans so that residents could
better understand it, according to Mr
Pepping.
Such items as land use tables and
Department of Planning subset
clauses made the draft LEP very
technical and even confusing, Mr
Pepping admitted.
The LEP had been on display since
March and the DCPs for Burrawang
and Wingello go on public display
later this month.
