“PLEASE don’t close our school” is the message Kangaloon Public School pupils are sending to Regional Director of Education Graeham Kennedy.
Pupils Hayden Veivers, Vesna and Lilliana Clark and Mason King have appealed to Mr Kennedy to keep their school open after he met with parents last week to discuss proposals to put the school into “recess” for two years.
“I don’t want to go to another school before I go to high school because all my friends are at Kangaloon and my great teachers,” wrote 10-year-old Hayden in a letter to Mr Kennedy.
“Mum said we will have some new kids next year and I will look after them because I will be in Year 6.... Please don’t close our school.”
Ten-year-old Vesna Clark and her little sister Lilliana said they loved their school and did not want it to close.
“...If it does, we would be very disappointed.
“At our school, we are like a family,” Vesna wrote.
“I love Mrs Meadows [the school principal] and Mrs Miller and I want to stay with them at Kangaloon,” Lilliana said.
Year 1 student Mason King wrote: “It is a really good school and I am very happy here... Will you please help us save Kangaloon School?”
Mr Kennedy responded to the children in an email, thanking them for their letters.
