Strike imminent: Staffing shuffles spark teacher outrage

Public school teachers around the Highlands will join a state-wide strike on April 8 to protest the State Government’s planned changes in public school staffing policies.

The Illawarra and Southern Highlands regional office of the Teacher’s Federation will hold two-hour stop work meetings at Mittagong RSL and Moss Vale Services Club to negotiate with the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET).

Teacher’s Federation regional officer Nicole Calnan said the current system gave qualifieteachers the right to transfer from hard-to-staff schools to another one to their choosing.
