Power was cut to homes throughout the Southern Highlands over the weekend as Integral Energy workers struggled to restore power supply after electrical storms ripped through the region on Saturday.
Integral Energy's network, which covers the Highlands, south-western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, was hit by 650 lightning strikes in storms from 2pm on Saturday.
An Integral Energy spokeswoman said about 8pm on Saturday, 40,000 customers across the network, including parts of Bowral, Hill Top and Werai, were without power.
By 10pm, 15,500 customers were still without power, and by midnight, power was restored to all but 5500.
