Silver teas to your door

31 Jul, 2009 03:38 PM
THE Silver Teapot Moss Vale continues to serve the Southern Highlands in a new format.

The popular shabby chic café and giftware shop shut down following a fire in September last year, but the owners continue to serve their tasty treats through a mobile catering business.

Business owners David and Vicki Millington said they had been inspired by the encouragement of family, friends and customers since the fire.

“Many people have asked us if we are going to open another shop,” Mrs Millington said.

“We didn’t realise how much people appreciated what we offered until the business burnt down - our aim is to offer the service that made our business so popular in a new format.

“The loss of our business at its Moss Vale location was a tough time and we lost a lot of irreplaceable personal items, but we have also gained new hope and are quite moved and humbled by the support we have received.

“We managed to recover and restore some furnishings and other decorative items and we are looking for a new shop location, but as yet we haven’t found anything that has the appeal and appearance of the original.”

However, the couple is offering the catering service that became so popular through the Silver Teapot Moss Vale in the form of a mobile operation available to meet the celebratory needs of clients at the location of their choice.

“We can cater for special functions such as birthdays, anniversaries, bridal and baby showers and weddings at an individuals’ home, in a park or even a hall,” Mrs Millington said.

The ever-popular Silver Teapot Moss Vale high teas are also still available.

“Our aim is to provide an affordable catering service that is tailormade for each client,” Mrs Millington said.

“For as little as $35 a person we can go to a person’s home, supply the shabby chic table setting and crockery and serve up a selection of treats chosen by the customer.

“We personally make most of the food we serve including cakes, biscuits, chutneys, jams, pestos, quiches, meatballs and chicken balls and we are constantly adding new treats to our menu.

“Our aim is to provide a shabby chic/French provincial dining environment, with delicious foods at affordable prices.”

The Silver Teapot Moss Vale high teas can also be enjoyed at Hume Cottage on the first Saturday of each month.

Bookings are essential.
