Seaton concerned about cuts

28 Feb, 2005 09:13 AM
Southern Highlands MP Peta Seaton has expressed concerns at decreasing police numbers in the Southern Highlands, with plans to pull 15 police off the beat in the region in the coming years.

Ms Seaton was commenting on State Government police statistics revealed by the Shadow Police Minister Peter Debnam, which show the Illawarra region is already down 82 police and reveals plans to further reduce police numbers to meet Carr Government reduction targets.

In the Camden Local Area Command, which includes the Southern Highlands, police numbers have gone down from 146 in 2003 to 142 in 2005, with plans to cull a further 11 officers from the ranks to meet the Government target of 131.
