Sculptor’s work still cutting the grade

EVEN at 90 years of age, Southern Highlands sculptor Lady Jean Griffin has shown she can still compete with the best of them.

Lady Griffin was awarded a third prize ribbon at the recent Sydney Royal Easter Show for her bronze sculpture “Caves”.

“I have never shown it before and got a complete surprise when I received a letter telling me I had won a prize in the Fine Arts section, with a nice cheque,” Lady Griffin said.

Lady Griffin took up sculpting more than 40 years ago, and examples of her ceramic and bronze pieces are scattered through her house and garden.
