Thousands flocked to Canberra to hear the nation’s leaders deliver an apology to indigenous people on Wednesday, but Member for Hume, Alby Schultz, was not among them.
The outspoken Liberal MP missed the historic moment for medical reasons.
However after reading the transcript of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s sorry speech he remained reluctant about the occasion, saying, “words are cheap”.
“The Prime Minister’s speech appealed to some and raised concern for others,” Mr Schultz said.
