Sarah, 6, awaits transplant

Six-year-old Sarah Jackson from Bowral is a beautiful little girl, but her infectious smile hides an everyday fight for life.

Sarah suffers from obliterative bronchitis - a rare and chronic lung disease and urgently needs a double lung transplant.

While she tries not to let her condition stop from living a normal life, Sarah relies heavily on her oxygen machine, which she carries with her wherever she goes.

Sarah caught a virus as a baby and fell seriously ill and as a result, her lungs were scarred, leaving her with only 33 per cent function of her lungs.

Sarah's mum Gail said the sound of your child gasping for breath is terrifying and hearing Sarah struggling for breath sends her and her husband Troy into a panic.
