Ronnie George thought she had lost her wedding and engagement rings forever when she accidentally flushed them and three other rings down the toilet.
Mrs George had taken the rings off her swollen fingers and slipped them into her trouser pocket.
The rings, wrapped in tissue paper, fell out of her pocket when she used the toilet.
But a call to Wingecarribee Shire Council's water and sewerage on-call staff had Wayne Gorton and Kel Garbutt at the George's Bowral home within 20 minutes.
"The council were fantastic," Mr George said.
"They went down the back yard to the sewage downpipes and blocked it off and got us to flush it out."
