“IT has to be a good day for redheads” was the text message that Bowral resident and proud redhead Andrew Chinn sent yesterday to all his friends.
While time will only show the Australian public how Julia Gillard will perform as Prime Minister, in the eyes of Mr Chinn she has shown that redheads are a force to be reckoned with.
They are here and they are going to stay, that was evident last year when the Post put the call out for the redheads of the Highlands to come forward.
More than 50 people turned up to Lake Alexandra to have their photo taken.
Mr Chinn was one of the proud “rangas” that turned up to have his photo taken along with his two daughters.
An ambassador to the Australian Orang-Utan Project and his daughters Kylie Wilshaw and Eleanor Chinn, posed with their “ranga” mascots and posed with Andrew’s “ranga” number plate.
A musician Mr Chinn was in Bellingen teaching a class, when he learnt that a redhead had taken the reins.
“We have called it Julia day, she is one of us,” he said.
“It is quite appropriate to be here in Bellingen in a room full of 120 kids there are 15 or 16 redheads.
“They have an over abundance up here.”
