HIGHLANDERS will have the chance to become more safety conscious this week.
The Fire Safety and Awareness Presentation, organised in partnership between Quota International of Moss Vale and Fire and Rescue NSW, will be held at Henrietta Rose Room in Bendooley Street in Bowral on Friday between 9.30am and noon.
Entry costs a gold coin donation and morning tea will be served during the seminar.
Bowral station officer Daron Lesslie said he would lead proceedings and the focus would be on fire safety for hearing impaired and senior members of the community.
Mr Lesslie said the seminar would cover smoke alarm maintenance and placement, the importance of escape plans, fire safety in the kitchen and being able to hear smoke alarms in the home.
He said there would also be information on the Smoke Alarm Subsidy Scheme which would reduce the cost of specialised smoke alarms for the hearing impaired.
Quota Moss Vale president Pat Fulton said the seminar would be an opportunity for people to access a variety of information on fire safety in the home, with a range of information leaflets available for people at the event.
