Minister for Police David Campbell met with members of the Southern Highlands Business Chamber's Vandalism Network Committee yesterday to discuss community concerns about police numbers in the Southern Highlands.
The meeting was held in response to the committee's concern about the the prevalence of anti-social behaviour, and in particular vandalism, in the area.
Vandalism Network Committee chairman Charlie Johns said the lack of a visible police presence in the area, especially on evenings and the weekends, was encouraging anti-social crimes such as harassment, dangerous driving, liquor offences and malicious damage to property.
Committee members told Mr Campbell that on some occasions the Bowral Police Station was too short staffed to respond to complaints.
