Mittagong residents Trevor and Kelly Martin have warned other to take special care in areas where the Rural Lands Protection Board (RLPB) is baiting for foxes, after their pure-bred staffordshire terrier died after eating a bait this week.
The Martins believe that their dog, Bella, picked up a bait outside the Mt Gibraltar reserve, where RLPB is using 1080 baits to control foxes.
Mr Martin took the dog for a walk along Railway Parade near the reserve on Tuesday but did not go past the sign warning of the presence of bait in the reserve.
