Platypus attack claims aired

30 Jul, 2001 10:17 AM

Cr Larry Whipper alleged at Wednesday’s meeting that a Nattai River platypus habitat had been excavated, at least one animal injured and the river dredged by workers on a Mittagong project.

He claimed the alleged work had been in contravention of the Rivers and Foreshores Act and demanded an early report.

DEP Ray Darney said Council was aware of the alleged activity and was having discussions with the Department of Land and Water Conservation. Results will be reported to a future meeting of Council.
