BUNDANOON residents are planning to fight a third development application from Norlex Holdings to extract groundwater from a Governors Street property.
The Land and Environment Court recently rejected an appeal against Wingecarribee Council’s refusal of a previous development application, and Norlex’s appeal against this decision will be heard on November 5.
However, Norlex has also lodged a new development application addressing the reasons for the Land and Environment Court refusal.
Commissioner Tim Moore found that the development would change the nature of Governors Street and would have unacceptable impacts on the nearest neighbouring property.
The new development application proposes no widening, paving or drainage or Governors Street, except laying more roadbase and reconstruction of the Church Street corner, and relocating the water extraction operations further away from the neighbouring boundary.
“The roadworks previously proposed were those considered by council as necessary to carry heavy vehicle traffic, so the proposal is to put articulated trucks over an unsafe road,” Don’t Bore Bundanoon spokesman Harvey Grennan said.
