Bowral's police force will have a new base with a new police station in the early planning stages.

The $12.6 million project is due for completion in 2011 with $700,000 allocated in this year's budget, according to State budget papers released this week.

Camden LAC Acting Commander Mark Hiron said the local area command has been looking at building new stations in Bowral and Camden for a while.

"We have put together a business case and currently the proposal is with consultants," he said.
