Musician writes songs from the head

09 Nov, 2009 09:06 AM
PHIL Paviour was 16 when he wrote his first song, and now 30 years on in his career he has released his newest album, Headspace.

St Jude’s Hall in Bowral was full on Saturday for the launch, hosted by the St Jude’s Music Society.

The launch began with a pre-band show featuring The Humbletones, duo Nick Tomlinson and Mark Dabin.

The launch performance included about 15 songs from which included The Journey, Linger and Can’t Get Around It.

Paviour’s accompanying six-piece band for the launch includes Mark Dabin on bass, Tim Stevens on guitar, Michael Griffiths playing drums, Louise Bell on keyboard and Ann Graham on fiddle.

Headspace came after an upbringing in a musical family where everyone was a musician, so Paviour has been playing since he was a kid and can play the bass, guitar mandolin and ukulele.

When asked where the inspiration comes from for his music and for the songs included on Headspace, Paviour’s response was simple.

“I just had to. I need to get these things out and you write songs, they have to go somewhere,” he said.

Paviour has also been involved in the band Cowpoke and Good Company, and has released six album with various other musicians.
