THEIR usual colours are blue and maroon, but you wouldn’t know it from the sight of Chevalier’s 1st XV rugby union side last Saturday.
Chev faced an undefeated Redfield side in the Independent Schools Association (ISA) competition and, led by Ben Selby and Rhys Lintern, the team won a memorable victory 14-0.
From the kickoff it was a mud bath.
Chevalier played a controlled game; they kept possession of the ball and played in Redfield’s half for most of the game.
The Chevalier forwards were particularly dominant during the lineouts, winning all of their own and half of Redfield’s.
Ben Black set up the first try in the first half for Rhys Lintern, then went over himself with some nimble footwork from the ruck. Billy Hayes converted both tries for a terrific win in grubby conditions.
