An 11th hour pledge by the State Government to review the renal services in Bowral has been slammed by sitting Liberal MP Peta Seaton.
The promise follows the State Government's allocation of funds to establish renal dialysis units in other regions such as Goulburn rather than the Highlands.
Ms Seaton said it was hard to believe the Carr Government and its promises just days before the State Election.
"They (Bob Carr and health minister Craig Knowles) have had eight years to do this," Ms Seaton said.
"Why the sudden change just 24 hours before the election?
"Is he really interested in solving the problem?"
Ms Seaton said it was also a "slap in the face" for the dedicated volunteers at the Southern Highland Renal Appeal (SHRA) and for the community who had worked so hard in raising money for the dialysis unit.
She said they had already raised nearly $100,000 to go towards the $500,000 needed for a dialysis unit to be set up in the Southern Highlands.
Health minister Craig Knowles said the decision to review the proposal as well as the costing came after a productive meeting with Labor candidate Noeline Brown and SHRA chairman Bob Barrett.
Mr Knowles said the review of the costing would be ready in six weeks time and would allow SHRA to further develop its plans to establish the service in the area.
