Mouse house opens medical doors for Moss Vale

28 Aug, 2007 05:30 PM
The Garvan Institute of Medical Research "mouse house" at Moss Vale could be the start of a medical research and education hub in the town.

Garvan Institute director of facilities, operations and planning Jeff Freeman outlined plans for the research facility at a meeting of the Moss Vale Chamber of Commerce this week.

Work on the project is under way at Lackey Road and the first stage of the development is expected to open in 2008.

The facility will be owned by the Garvan Institute on behalf of the medical community of NSW and operated by Australian BioResources.

It will agist and breed mice on behalf of research groups such as the University of NSW, the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute, the University of Newcastle and the Children's Cancer Institute of Australia.
