Moto-cross advocate refutes noise claims

13 Nov, 2009 09:13 AM
THE proponent of the Hill Top moto-cross track has refuted residents’ claims there will be significant impact on the amenity of the area.

Darren Hogan of Bureaucracy Busters, who prepared the development application on behalf of the applicant, said there would never be more than 30 bikes at any one time on site.

Mr Hogan said the Water Cycle Management Plan that counted more than 100 people did not relate to the number of riders and was an upper estimate for site usage.

The Water Cycle Management Plan states it has been prepared to take account of “100 riders or spectators on trading days.”

In addition, Mr Hogan referred to the acoustics report, prepared by Spectrum Acoustics, which states that noise levels will not exceed those recommended by the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change.

The acoustic test was conducted with 14 bikes using an existing track on-site.

The maximum noise level from these bikes was found to be between 24-30 decibels.

Mr Hogan said 30 bikes would make no more noise than the 14 used during testing.

Mr Hogan hopes to be able to invite residents, council officers and councilors to an on-site inspection and second acoustic test within a fortnight.

The moto-cross track will be constructed at the far end of the 26 hectare site, and will be shielded from the nearest residences by a small rise covered in vegetation.

Great first its the rifle range, now a mx track. What's next the 2nd sydney airport for Hill Top. Here's a simple solution why don't the coppers come up here on a saturday and sunday for a few hours patrol the local streets and they would easily catch those riding unlicensed MX and quad bikes on the local streets let alone in the bush. Hill Top has become a haven for not only unregistered bikes coming at you on the roads but also aggressive dogs off lead wandering around making it impossible for those living up there or for us whom have to visit the place.
