The store took the Supa IGA Retailer of the Year for 2010 award at the annual NSW-ACT IGA Retailer of the Year Awards, held recently at the IGA conference at Hamilton Island.
The Supa IGA Retailer of the Year Award recognises the store that best encapsulates the Supa IGA brand and excels in all aspects of their business – from effective marketing to successful community campaigns.
With a clean sweep, the Moss Vale supermarket also received awards for the Meat Department of the Year, Customer Service Department of the Year and Store Manager of the Year awards.
The meat department was awarded for consistent high quality and commitment to providing customers top value, range and quality, as well as managing individual customer needs and trying new ideas and product ranges.
Store owners Ian Ashcroft and Rochelle Fuller were awarded for their focus on providing an enjoyable experience for their customers, getting behind all of the IGA promotions and events and ensuring the store kept up with local trends.
“Because we are such a small town, we all act very collectively,” Mr Ashcroft said.
“It’s really important that everyone feels welcome when they come into our store.”
The latest idea at Ashcroft’s Supa IGA Moss Vale is a customer loyalty program, with more than 3200 Southern Highlanders signing up in 10 weeks.
Customer service is also a huge focus of the supermarket, Mr Ashcroft said, noting that the store held regular theme market days where staff dressed to raise money for charities.
Making a real mark in the community was the store manager – Brad Payten – whose hard work was recognised as the NSW-ACT store manager of the year.
Highly trained and motivated, with experience in all areas of the business, Mr Payten set high operational store standards and is an active participant at IGA meetings, supporting other retailers and sharing ideas for other stores.
Mr Ashcroft and Ms Fuller said they were extremely proud of their achievement and thanked loyal staff for their efforts and for the continuing support they receive from the Moss Vale community.
“It is an absolute honour to be able to represent Moss Vale by winning these awards,” Mr Ashcroft said.
“We work extremely hard to ensure we are providing our loyal customers with the best grocery supplies and customer service possible.
“We would like to thank IGA for recognising our efforts in creating a superb shopping experience for the local community.”
Ashcroft’s Supa IGA Moss Vale is now a finalist in the national awards, which will be presented on the Gold Coast this month.
