Moss Vale Public School is the latest school to join the Newspapers in Education program.
Sylvie Comeau-Hall from Moss Vale Village Pharmacy is sponsoring this term for the schools participating.
Moss Vale is the largest school to join the program with Burrawang, Avoca, St Michael's, St Thomas Aquinas, Wingello and Bundanoon already utilising the NiE.
The program encourages students to read their local newspaper and see how they can make contributions to what they read and what is read by others.
They are then able to take it home to their parents and discuss stories with them.
Ms Sylvie Comeau-Hall was delighted to have been given the opportunity to be able to assist students.
"It is an excellent opportunity for kids to see what is happening around them," Ms Comeau-Hall said
Year Six teacher, Mrs Christina Marsh, was very impressed by the teachers notes that came as part of the package.
"They make it very easy to ensure that the students get the most out of the program."
There are four Year Six classes and three Year Five classes at Moss Vale taking advantage of the program which links several other topics.
Mrs Marsh said the students would be participating in the Jeans for Genes day next week and is encouraging them to write a story and send it in.
The students are also participating in Local Government Week.
