Moss Vale Chamber backs roundabout

25 Jan, 2005 03:19 PM
Moss Vale Chamber of Commerce has supported Bowral Chamber of Commerce in its call for a roundabout at the intersection of Bong Bong and Station Streets, Bowral.

Members at the Moss Vale Chamber meeting on Monday passed a motion supporting the Bowral Chamber in its push for a roundabout in preference to traffic lights at the intersection.

Moss Vale Chamber president Geoff Hosey put forward a motion that the chamber support whatever action Wingecarribee Shire Council, in conjunction with the police, decides on, provided that funding is not taken from any other projects in the shire.

"I believe that this is a black spot and I am totally behind the police to say we get it fixed as soon as possible," said Mr Hosey.

"I wouldn't like to see a major accident happen there because we have been slow in acting."

"A roundabout is the preferred option, but it will cost $2.5 to $4 million and that is going to take money away from other projects in the shire."

But chamber members voted down the motion, instead voting to support Bowral Chamber of Commerce.
