Man pleads guilty after fatal crash

28 Dec, 2004 01:41 PM
A former Moss Vale man has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving occasioning death over an accident which claimed the life of Keith Patrick McRae on May 1.

Daryl Alan Barton of Bangalow Place, Macquarie was also charged with negligent driving and driving with a mid-range blood alcohol level.

Barton entered his plea at Moss Vale Court on December 21 and will be sentenced in Goulburn District Court at a date to be fixed.

Barton was driving Mr McRae's car when he lost control near the intersection of Kinds Road and Argyle Street, Moss Vale.

Police crash investigators said Barton failed to negotiate a moderate left-hand bend, sending the car into a spin and onto the other side of the road.

The car spun back to the right side of the road, hitting the eastern embankment front-on, causing the vehicle to spin sharply and collide with a power pole with great force on the passenger side.
