STUDENTS from Moss Vale High School have received high praise for helping elderly residents manage their mobile phones.
Year 9 students from the school have been participating in the Telstra Connected Seniors mobile phone workshops at Highlands Community Centre, Stafford Cottage in Bowral.
The workshops are designed to take away the mystery of using a modern-day mobile phone covering basic functions such as making and receiving calls, sending text messages and keeping it charged.
But it's not only the seniors who are learning.
The Year 9 students said they were also picking up things they didn't know about mobile phones as well.
"It's a great experience and we've learned things from the course like not keeping your phone on the charger all night," student Dean Cassidy said.
"The participants are picking it up really quickly and they are really nice people to teach."
Community worker Robyn Uhl said the course was not just for learning about phones, it also provided a comfortable social setting.
"The people have told me how wonderful the students are. One lady just told me that Dean was brilliant, very patient and is going to go a long way."
The courses will run until May. Call 48621122 or drop into Stafford Cottage at 22 Bendooley Street.
