Lucky escape from crushed vehicle

31 Oct, 2001 11:28 AM

AN 18-YEAR-MAN from Bargo was fortunate to escape unhurt after his van ploughed into the side of a parked truck near Robertson.

The driver’s Ford Ute was completely written off in the crash, which occurred at about 6.40am on Monday morning.

Police said the man, whose vehicle was carrying bread destined for a bakery, was heading west along the Illawarra Highway, collided with the parked truck at the junction with Pearsons Lane.

In a further twist, the truck driver had temporarily left his vehicle to close his front gate at the time of the accident and was also unhurt.

The driver of the Ford Ute was taken to hospital where he was said to be suffering from minor injuries.
