A fruity sauvignon blanc botrytis wine from Southern Highland Wines is making waves on the wine show circuit, picking up the top gold award for its category at the Riverina Wine Show recently.
The SHW 2003 Sauvignon Blanc Botrytis wine picked up the award in the 2003-2004 vintage sweet white fruity category and beat established wineries such as De Bortoli and McWilliams in the process.
The wine, made by Southern Highland Wines with grapes from Mittagong's Diamond Creek Estate, has already picked up seven bronze medals and two silver medals at other wine shows around the state.
The award is a fantastic achievement for the fledging winemaker and vigneron, particularly since the grapes were from Diamond Creek Estate owner Helen Hale's first vintage.
