Police believe a Robertson shooting that left a 36-year-old local man dead in the early hours of yesterday morning is linked to an earlier fight at a local hotel.
Camden Local Area Command crime manager, Detective Inspector Paul Albury, said yesterday the shooting was being treated as a homicide and investigations are continuing.
He said a 38-year-old Robertson man had been taken into custody and was assisting police with their enquiries at Bowral Police Station.
The shooting occurred after two men drove to a residence on the Illawarra Highway at Robertson around 2am yesterday where they confronted another man and an argument developed.
"The two men went to a property to speak to a resident of that property," Detective Inspector Albury said.
"The resident has come to the vehicle with a gun, which led to the passenger of the car being shot."
He said the weapon was a single-barrel shotgun, and the 36-year-old Robertson man died shortly after being shot in the torso.
Police found the man dead in the front yard of a Robertson residence.
