Legal row brews over aquifer plan

29 Dec, 2006 09:30 AM
Mr Bell, who chairs the NSW Farmers Sydney Water Catchment Taskforce, said the taskforce had initiated action to take the matter to the Lands and Environment Court.

Last week, Sydney Catchment Authority gave the community 10 days to comment on its plans before work starts at the Kangaloon aquifer.

"Drilling of the aquifer is simply illegal. What they've doing is purely dirty tactics," Mr Bell said.

"The public has the right to know what is being done with their water.

"When you give public notice, it needs to be effective notice. Only giving the public 10 days is not effective notice."
