Learner drivers hear safe road messages

28 Nov, 2008 10:19 AM
HIGHLANDS learner drivers and their instructors headed down to Goulburn last Sunday to get an education in safe driving.

The learner drivers spent the afternoon at the Police Driver Training School at Goulburn where they experienced demonstrations on topics such as stopping distances, driveway safety, the three-second gap and interactive heavy vehicle displays.

The workshop was a joint program organised by the Wingecarribee council and the Goulburn Mulwaree council.

Wingecarribee Council road safety officer Charmaine Cooper said the day went really well, with a positive response and lots of happy parents.

About 30 people from the Highlands attended.

Ms Cooper said the aim of the day was to give learner drivers experience in unknown situations while they were still learners, so that if a situation ever arose in the future, they would be able to react appropriately.

Ms. Benn has provided information to readers about a great opportunity for learner drivers. This short but well detailed article may motivate learner drivers, or their parents, to look out for events that may preceed this one.
