Miss World entrant Kaela Scott is encouraging Southern Highlands women to be part of a regional heat of the Miss World Australia 2009 competition.
Kaela, a Goulburn dance teacher, nominated for Miss World Australia in 2007 and was surprised to find that she was one of only two contestants from rural areas.
The experience encouraged her to nominate again and to take on the task of organising a Southern Highlands heat.
“It was definitely a fun experience,” Kaela said. “You go to a lot of black tie events, and meet a few celebrities along the way.
“For the finals we were put up at Star City which was a lot of fun.”
Kaela said participating in Miss World Australia had helped her to improve her confidence, presentation and public speaking skills.
Miss World Australia 2008 entrants also raised more than $2million for charity.
Kaela has supported cystic fibrosis research and Beyond Blue and hopes to get involved in Sister To Sister.
