If unique is what you are chasing then why not personalise your numbers plates.
It seems hundreds in the highlands are doing just that by stamping their individuality on their vehicles.
Highlands resident Lizzii Collison believes that custom number plates make her vehicle look unique from the rest.
“It’s becoming more popular and they look good on nice cars,” Ms Collison said.
At the moment, Ms Collison has the number plate QWIKAZ but in a couple of weeks she plans to change the plate to suit her car.
“I don’t want to disclose what it’s going to be because I want to keep it a surprise,” Ms Collison said.
“The funniest number plate I have seen is JOINDQ and I didn’t want to ask why.”
Mittagong’s Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) manager Tony Woods said the most popular time for orders was May, September and December due to Mother’s, Father’s and Christmas Day.
“Often people are at a loss to find a present and personalised number plates are a good choice,” Mr Woods said.
He said there were still restrictions on what people could have and plates deemed offensive by the RTA would not be ordered.
An RTA report of plates ordered in the Highlands stated more than 800 standard plates and between 40-50 custom plates were issued yearly. Plate payments range from $158 a year.
