Inspectors go north too: MP

31 Jan, 2006 03:35 PM
Local police inspectors have followed the same path as highway patrol officers in being sent away from Bowral to work north of the region, according to Member for Southern Highlands Peta Seaton.

Ms Seaton said she was alarmed to learn recently that there were no longer any Inspectors stationed at Bowral Police Station - and that they are instead based at Camden.

"It's absolutely outrageous that the southern end of the Camden Local Area Command has no senior police officers stationed here," Ms Seaton said.

"This is a blatant watering down of local policing which not only undermines this area, but is also demoralising for the remaining police officers who must surely be feeling as though they have been left out in the cold."

Ms Seaton said shifting police resources out of the Southern Highlands to the northern end of the Camden Local Area Command was "completely unacceptable", particularly when the Southern Highlands was experiencing increasing crime problems.
