If it's Tulip Time, this must be Bowral

On Friday, Steve Jacobs will be in Townsville celebrating Cowboys' Day.

On Thursday, he'll be kicking up his heels with Wests Tigers' supporters.

But on Tuesday morning, he was in Corbett Gardens, reading the national weather report under a cloudy sky, while behind him an energetic red-haired clown boogied with spectators to the music of the Chevalier College Band.

Earlier in the morning, the Channel 9 Today Show weatherman cavorted with local dancers from The Southern Highlands Folk Dance Circle.

"It's been wonderful. I've had a great time," said Mr Jacobs, following his live broadcast from the 2ST Tulip Time Breakfast.

Mr Jacobs demonstrated the perils of live television when he triumphantly introduced a spectator as news presenter Sharon Ghidella's former headmistress from St Gabrielle's.

When Ms Ghidella said "I didn't go to St Gabrielle's, the headmistress quickly got the elbow and Mr Jacobs turned to an interview with local identity Ita Buttrose instead.

"That's the thing about this job, you never know what's going to go on or who you are going to meet," he said afterwards.

The Today Show crew joined Ronald McDonald and Ita Buttrose as guests at the 2ST breakfast.

Tulip Time co-ordinator Debbie Bonett said despite the overcast skies, the event attracted a good crowd.

Publicity from the Today Show augers well for the final weekend of Tulip Time, which will include specialist garden shows, rare and unusual plants and the Art and Craft Show at the Bowral Memorial Hall.
