GIVING birth will be a little easier for women at Bowral and District Hospital thanks to a $35,000 donation from the Woolworths Fresh Food Kids Hospital Appeal.
The appeal ran from August 24 to October 28 and Woolworths supermarkets in Mittagong, Bowral and Tahmoor hosted fundraising activities such as sausage sizzles, lamington drives and trivia nights.
Hospital director David Ryan was extremely grateful to Woolworths and its staff for their ongoing support and thanked the community for getting behind the appeal.
"We are very thankful for this generous donation, which will help the hospital to buy an additional CTG Telemetry Machine, which will be used to monitor women in labour," he said.
"The machine monitors uterine contractions and the baby's heart beat.
"It is also wireless, which means women can comfortably move around the unit while being monitored."
This year was the first in which the annual appeal has supported the Bowral Hospital.
Woolworths Area Manager David Hayes thanked "all their generous customers and dedicated staff who helped raise this extraordinary amount".
"Woolworths is proud to continue to support Bowral and District Hospital and help local families and children," he said.
The Woolworths Fresh Food Kids Hospital Appeal has been an annual event for more than 20 years, raising more than $60 million for medical equipment, facilities and research to help Australian children.
