Hill Top wins hall fight

23 Nov, 2006 07:15 PM
Hill Top residents have won their fight to save the Hill Top War Memorial Hall from closure and sale.

Wingecarribee Shire Council voted this week to lease the hall to the Friends of the Hill Top War Memorial and will give the group the chance to buy the property when it is rezoned.

"It's a very good Christmas present for the village," Friends of the Hill Top War Memorial chairman Jim Angel said yesterday.

"It's a very close-knit village and this has been a big issue because we did not want to lose the hall and memorial wall."

Mr Angel said he had received positive feedback from community members about the council's decision.
