Hill Top challenges shire over hall use

24 Aug, 2006 04:38 PM
Hill Top residents have accused Wingecarribee Shire Council of under-estimating the use of Hill Top War Memorial Hall.

Angry residents used public question time at Wednesday's council meeting to query council's statistics on use of the hall.

The hall is amongst council-owned properties earmarked for sale, with council citing low use as a reason for its closure.

Wingecarribee Shire general manager Mike Hyde said an audit of receipts for the hall use in 2006/06 showed that the hall was used by the local playgroup for two hours each week except for school holidays, by the cricket club seven times and casual hirers on eight occasions.
