Highlands Schools to benefit

24 Oct, 2005 09:13 AM
Students and staff at Southern Highlands schools are to benefit from almost $830,000 in funding directed to Gilmore under the Australian Government's Investing in Our Schools program.

Member for Gilmore Joanna Gash said the funds would be used for a multitude of purposes.

"This is great news for schools in the Southern Highlands," Mrs Gash said.

"The money will allow work to be carried out that simply would not have been undertaken if the Australian Government had not stepped in with the Investing in Our Schools program.

"The program is especially significant because it will fund projects that have been identified by the school communities as being critical to their schools."

The Investing in Our Schools program will provide an additional $700 million in capital funding to public schools between 2005 and 2008.

"This is the first round of announcements," Mrs Gash said.

"There will be more to come and I look forward to seeing the funds flow to Gilmore schools."
