HIGHLANDS HSC students were ranked among the best in the state when this year’s UAI results were announced last week.
The Universities Admission Index (UAI) is a rank, which allows the comparison of students who have completed different combinations of HSC courses. It is the primary measure universities use to select school leavers for courses.
In NSW 23 students received the top UAI of 100, with Fresnham student Sarah Hayes receiving 99.9.
Two others from the all-girls boarding school also achieved a UAI of 99 and, of the 50 Year 12 students, a quarter scored more than 95.
Chevalier College principal Chris McDermott was also very pleased with his students’ performance.
Thirty per cent achieved one or more Band 6 results, earning Chevalier College a place among the top 150 schools in the state.
“Special mention must go to Jared McNeill who gained marks greater than 90 in 10 units of his courses, making him one of the state’s top all-round students.
“I’d also like to recognise Annalise Bertram, who earned a 17th place in English (Standard), and Chiara Belluomo who placed ninth and Brodan Lazzarini who placed 10th in the state in History Extension.”
English Extension 1 was also a strong subject for the school. All seven students received the highest band possible by scoring more than 45 out of 50.
Adding to the honour list were students from the Southern Highlands Christian School, which was recognised as the top co-educational school in the district for English and mathematics.
