Highlands chills out at Christmas

26 Dec, 2006 08:26 PM
While snow was falling in the Victorian Alps, a small number of Highlands residents braved the pool as Australia experienced one of the coolest Christmases in recent years.

Temperatures reached an average of 18 degrees across the Southern Highlands, high enough for about 100 people to pass through the pool.

This was in contrast to last year's scorching holiday period, which saw temperatures nudge the 40-degree mark.

Sydney youngster Lachlan Keighery took a break from celebrating Aunty June's 75th birthday and was the only family member to jump in the pool.
