Actress Noeline Brown said during Graham Kennedy's funeral on Tuesday that despite Kennedy's ill health in the final years of his life, his death had come as a surprise both her and writer/producer Tony Sattler.
"I didn't think Graham was ever going to die. A few times we got close and we had memorial services organised but he got better. So I was always expecting him to get better. In fact, I said to Tony 'he's going to outlive both of us,'" Ms Brown said.
Ms Brown said Kennedy had been particularly happy during his time living in the Southern Highlands.
"He was really happy here because he was almost anonymous. Everyone knew it was Graham wearing a disguise, but they'd just sort of wave and pass by," she said.
"He had a wonderful time living on his farm with his wonderful big Clydesdale horse, an ex-Carlton United draught horse and a beautiful dog called Henry."
Ms Brown spoke of the companionship Henry provided for Kennedy during his time in the Southern Highlands. She said Kennedy and Henry had got on famously since he went to a friend's house in Canyonleigh to pick out a golden retriever.
"There was one there that was small, that was the runt of the pack and had been castrated because it was no good for breeding purposes. So Graham said 'I decided on Henry because all the other dogs were poking fun at him because he had no balls'," Ms Brown said.
"They were wonderful friends. A photograph of Henry is going to go with Graham and is going to be cremated because I believe that Graham and Henry are going to be together in heaven."
