Bundanoon resident Jim Clark, who has served two terms on Wingecarribee Council, will be in the lead position while Bowral resident Maree Byrne who ran for the Greens in the 2011 State Government Election will be number two.
"Maree Byrne will be a great running-mate for council, she has a good record of involvement in local issues and is currently serving on council's Environment committee," Cr Clark said.
"She campaigned and polled well for the Greens in the state government election and we feel she would serve council well if elected."
Ms Byrne who has been an active member of sustainability group Climate Action Now Wingecarribee has been a local resident for 16 years.
She has a broad work experience as a teacher in Malaysia, a nurse and health educator in Dubbo and as a small business operator in Canberra and the Highlands.
The Greens believe issues of importance for this election in Wingecarribee will include the continuing threats to Green space by developers and the pressure on council to hand over Public Recreation lands for other purposes such as the Bong Bong Common Precinct land at Suttor Rd in Moss Vale and the Wongabri Land Swap proposal for Eridge Park.
"Council can't assume we can apply to the State Government to have such land turned over for private use without first properly consulting with the community, that's very presumptuous," Ms Byrne said.
"The next four years on council will be crucial to protect our public lands; the continual chipping away of open space across the shire needs to be halted.
"Any proposals for other uses for public recreation land need to go out for full public consultation before being voted through council and being given in principle support."
